Trans­port connec­tions

You can get to us by boat, bicycle, train, bus, your own car and carpoo­ling. The nearest airport is in Joensuu. Finland’s largest inland ferry, Arvin­sal­mi, connects Liperi and Rääkkylä, and is worth experiencing.

In Liperi you can enjoy the rural landsca­pe, in Rääkkylä you can ride in the green lake landsca­pe and in Heinä­ve­si you can ride through the canals. There are no rush hours.

We encou­ra­ge you to use public trans­port and carpoo­ling, which is helped by the new Reissu­kyy­ti app. Tourism entrepre­neurs are happy to tell you the best way to get there or a ride will be arranged.

From Helsinki, you can travel directly to Kitee or Joensuu. The rail connec­tion between Tampere and Joensuu runs via Pieksä­mä­ki.

Long-distance buses between Kuopio and Joensuu travel via Liperi. From Joensuu, local buses operate to Liperi and Heinä­ve­si.

You can fly to Joensuu, Kuopio or Savon­lin­na, from where you can continue your journey by train or bus.

You can arrive by boat at the guest harbors in Heinä­ve­si, Liperi and Rääkkylä. The harbors offer fuel, sauna services, accom­mo­da­tion, cafés and restau­rants.
